Aaron Barlow Olmstead Connecticut travel diaries, 1835-1839.

Two holograph travel diaries: An eight-page account dated 1835 Jul 27-Aug 22, describes Olmstead's travel in the Weston, Connecticut area, visiting family and friends, his attendance at church meetings, and his studies. A four-page account dated 1839 Jul 22-27, describes his travels in southern and western Connecticut where he collected geological specimens; toured and met with individuals working at museums, historical sights, colleges, and factories; and visited friends and family. Accompanied by a letter written to Olmstead by Nathan Hopkins, a minister in Livingston, Alabama, on 1837 Mar 24, in which he advises Olmstead of business prospects in Alabama.
